Enthusiasts will tell you Scamp trailers are more than a brand — they’re a lifestyle. In lieu of supporting Scamp enthusiasts, Scamp Owners International was born. This is where other Scamp Campers can share news, tips, trips, activities, gatherings and members directory. It’s everything Scamp.
In late January, 1999, eight Scamp Owners met at Highlands Hammock State Park in southern Florida near Sebring. After spending several days chatting about experiences in traveling with our Scamps , this small group decided to publish a newsletter for Scamp owners (and others who own little "eggs"). In May the first issue of Scamp Owners Internatonal (SOI) was mailed to about thirty Scamp owners. From this small beginning, SOI now has several hundred members.
SOI provides articles on interesting travel destinations, members letters, activities, tips and hints, news from national parks, announcements of future gatherings (ScampCamps), modifications and changes members have made to their Scamp and Scamps for sale or wanted. The newsletter is published quarterly - January, April, July and October. Another recent benefit is an annual membership directory.
With time, other features and activities have been introduced including members annual gatherings at Highlands Hammock State Park annualy since that initial gathering. In addition, other ScampCamps are being offered by members in various parts of the U.S. such as Death Valley National Park, Northern Michigan, Shenandoah National Park, VA and many other places across the USA. Future ScampCamps are being planned with details to be announced in our SOI newsletter.
Anyone who owns or is interested in Scamp or similar small fiberglass travel trailers (Scamp, Acorn, Casita, Burro, U-Haul, Trillium, Boler, etc.) are invited to join SOI.
